I've chosen to limit vaccines for all of our dogs and which and when to give has been a hard choice. But rabies is 'the law' so I vaccinate for that one, which is every 3 years in VA. But our puppy just had a reaction to his first rabies vaccine that is only good for a year. I was also glad when distemper recommendations were changed to 3 years, and that you could titer for it to see if the dog needed a booster. None of my dogs ever have.
I think they've changed the distemper etc combo to 2-3 years here as well. And the last time I asked, they even did titers! Wish they'd do it for rabies as well...
